“A chic hotel with sea views that are to die for, the Hotel Rigas was made for relaxation.”
The Rigas scores top marks for its setting. Set on a tranquil hillside in Afitos, it looks out over the Sithonia Peninsula and endless blue seas. It’s a few minutes’ walk into the village where you’ll find a huddle of shops, bars and restaurants. So location-wise it ticks all the right boxes.
The hotel makes a big impression, too. Built in traditional stone, it looks right at home in its surroundings. But on closer inspection, you’ll find this hotel is more boutique chic than authentic Greek. Take the curvy swimming pool. Set into a stylish decked terrace, it’s surrounded by contemporary sun loungers that face out to sea. And to the side is a pool bar with retro-style chairs and luxurious sofas piled with cream cushions. It’s the perfect spot for sunset cocktails.
The smart interior is just as funky. Well-groomed bedrooms are dressed in a palette of crème caramel and rich chocolate. They all come with double beds backed by fashionable wooden headboards, plus a balcony or terrace with a sea view. And if you want to up the luxury, plump for a suite which features a lounge area and a luxurious whirlpool bath for two.
